Friday Paper List – May 24th

I have mentioned this blog before, but I really liked the last two posts over at Nucleus Ambiguous. The first is an update/commentary on the BRAIN Inititative. I think Nucamb has provided some of the best coverage and commentary available on the BRAIN Initiative. The second is about the current state of affairs in science publishing, which is a topic I find very important and interesting.

Now some papers to dive into!

Friday Paper List – May 10th

The NSF and Kavli Foundation recently organized “The Physical and Mathematical Principles of Brain Structure and Function Workshop” in Arlington VA. What is kind of neat is it looks like the attendees where asked ahead of time to write a brief answer to the question, “What are the greatest challenges impeding progress in brain science?” The answers make up this 72 page document which has some interesting thoughts and proposals from several great scientists in the field. I think it is definitely worth browsing through if for no other reason than to get a sense of where the field is presently and where people are looking towards for the future. These Breakout Session Slides are online as well.

It’s neat getting access to everyone’s ideas. Of course some find getting access to things easier than others…
